Event 4 - Relay Race

Taking place Friday Week 9

8 races, 20 horse fields in each (one from each team per condition). All races will be designated as Olympics Relay Races. Any player will be able to claim horses out of the claiming races, as per regular claiming rules.

**Each player will have an entrant in this relay, and one player may have 2 in teams with only seven team members. As with the yearling works, you may give a horse to someone on that team, but the horse will then stay with that player through the end of the racing season and can be transferred back after Week 16 Friday races.**

Race 1 - Cleveland Park. 1 1/8 miles. Dirt. Thoroughbred. 4-year-olds and up. Geldings. NW4 lifetime.
Race 2 - Cleveland Park. 6 1/2 furlongs. Dirt. Thoroughbred. 2 year olds. Colts and geldings. Maiden claiming. Claiming price - $5,000.
Race 3 - Cleveland Park. 7 furlongs. Dirt. Thoroughbred. 3 year olds and up. Fillies and mares. NW3 Lifetime. Claiming price $32,000.
Race 4 - Cleveland Park. 1 mile. Turf. Thoroughbred. 3 year olds and up. Open. Allowance.
Race 5 - Cleveland Park. 1 1/2 miles. Turf. Thoroughbred. 3 year olds and up. Fillies and mares. Maiden claiming. Claiming price - $40,000.
Race 6 - Cleveland Park. 2 miles. Turf. Steeplechase. Thoroughbred. 5 year olds and up. Colts and geldings. NW5 Lifetime. Claiming price - $12,500.
Race 7 - Ruidoso Raceway. 350 Yards. Dirt. Paint. 3-year-olds. Colts and geldings. Maiden claiming. Claiming price - $25,000.
Race 8 - Ruidoso Raceway. 1 1/2 miles. Dirt. Arabian. 4-year-olds and up. Fillies and mares. NW3 Lifetime.

After you select your horses and they are entered, please have the Team Captain send a list of your 8 entrants to the Steward. Include the Team Name or Number, the what horse is running per race, and which player on the team has the horse.

Races will be scored 1st - 5th. 1st place will receive 10 points, 2nd 7, 3rd 5, 4th 3, and 5th 1 point.

well, I don't have any paints or Arabians to enter, but can help with some of the other races. I have to check to see what I have that's both good and fresh.

My first summer session classes are almost done, so my workload will lighten up and I'll be much more able to be active and help out the team. I feel bad that I haven't been able to do more til now.

Race 2 - Night Watchman...currently at auction, but if not taken he's a possibility, tho he's nothing special.

Good point Todd! I was in a rush when I posted and just paid attention to the 1 1/8 dirt thing. I've now thoroughly gone through my stable and have come up nearly empty handed! Only one of my horses fits the bill:

Stands Vivified She's near the track and I wouldn't be overly sorry to lose her.

That said, if we can't find a horse for another division I would be happy to buy one if one can be found.

Cleo...when do you need to know our entries? I have my horse for Race 3 entered elsewhere, so I'll need to know soon before she auto-ships so I can enter her in the Cleveland Park race.

Also, I think that if any of us enter a horse that we really don't want to lose, maybe we as a team can decide to try and claim it and then sell it back to the original owner for the claiming price. If that's legal and all...

Umm.. I think most of us would have autoship set to 4 days or less, so if we have everything decided by Monday results?

Also, I'm not sure about the claiming thing. Maybe you should post and ask on the sim forum, Phil? Just to double check.

"'Johnny Castle' has some potential over the jumps! Some of the landings were a little unbalanced, but this horse could give steeplechasing a try." (This was before I gelded him)
"'Johnny Castle' ducked out hard when the rider went to the left-hand stick. It's too risky, you should probably lose the whip. I think he needs one other piece of equipment too."

Actually he might not be a bad idea. He hasn't tried the 350 yards yet and with a bit of equipment, he'll could be better than most CAMs people will create.

I'd like to ask the group to use my horse for race three...she's never been off the board, run well on wet tracks and I feel like I haven't helped the team in the last two efforts, so I'd like to be able to do something for us by running In Awe of You in race three.

Oh, and yeah, I forgot...pleeease!! lol
