Unworked Yearling Contest
So I've been messing with a bit of training to keep Career Maker fit through a 4 week break between races. Check him out:
Career Maker
I'm pointing him out because his works have improved greatly with some training behind him (check his history). I propose we all train our yearlings who only need 1 or no pieces of equipment until week 5. Hopefully this way we can win the unworked yearling contest without necessarily having champion bred yearlings.
What do you all think? Good plan, bad plan?

Re: Unworked Yearling Contest
That's not a bad idea though Career Maker is a bit of a freak so it doesnt necessarily mean that the training is the reason for the improvement but judging by the history it looks like it is. It would be a good experiment to try out though with some other horses in our barns who aren't as freakish and see if it improves them while we do train the yearlings too. I'll do it with some of my horses and see what happens.
Any idea how this untrained yearling contest is gonna go? Fastest time I'm guessing? Or fastest average time between our team maybe?

I have no idea how its going to run but if I had to guess it would be one of those two you mentioned, Todd.

Re: Unworked Yearling Contest
I've had my yearlings on a weekly training schedule mixing between longe line, working with a pony and swimming so far...I figured I'd give them week 4 off so they're fresh and ready to pop for week 5.
I'll have to load up some more GPs to do the equipment thing for all 55 of my yearlings! So I'm hoping we get to choose who we want to use as our contestant horses for that yearling contest b/c that's a lot of GPs to spend!

Re: Unworked Yearling Contest
I do not have GPs so equipment test on any of them.
It will no let me train with pony yet so i guess i will stay with the regulars.
This is going to be fun.

Re: Unworked Yearling Contest
Tatiana,
If you have any retired horses, you can select a new career for them. Pick stable pony and move the horse to a farm where you have yearlings stabled. Then the train with pony option will be available.
